Corruption IS “What is in it”… So?

2017/10/14

“Based on guidance from the Department of Justice, the Department of Health and Human Services has concluded that there is no appropriation for cost-sharing reduction payments to insurance companies under Obamacare,” White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders said in a statement late Thursday. “The bailout of insurance companies through these unlawful payments is yet another example of how the previous administration abused taxpayer dollars and skirted the law to prop up a broken system.”

“But we have to pass the [health care] bill so that you can find out what’s in it….”

The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, was passed in the senate on December 24, 2009, and rammed through the Democrat held house on March 21, 2010, without any debate or bipartisan support. It was signed into law by Obama on March 23rd, 2010 and upheld in the supreme court on June 28, 2012; as stealth extortion, it was rendered a tax rather than a penalty for the wealth redistribution it was to eventually become in the future (see Obamacare’s Mysterious Missing Billions). The Supreme Court conveniently forgot that when it makes a service mandatory, corporations can charge any price they want.  What is, buried deep in the law are 19 special sections that cannot be challenged by the courts or any regulatory system.  What the public was being sold and what the law actually has in it are 2 totally different things.

The previous Administration broke promise after promise. Obama et al, said costs would go down, but instead hardworking Americans are left with higher costs for health care. He said that if you liked your plan, you could keep it, but millions of plans have been cancelled.  Time and time again this bill has proved to be bad for business, bad for families and bad for the American people.

This graphic shows, that The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act as a law created 68 grant programs, 47 new bureaucratic entities, 29 demonstration or pilot programs, 6 new regulatory systems, 6 compliance standards and 2 new entitlements.

Many of Obamacare’s provisions are already in effect and the rest continues to roll out until 2022. Obamacare saw the bulk of it’s provisions, taxes and programs rolled out in 2013 and 2014.

The Dems’ cry ‘sabotage’ as Trump reforms unconstitutional Obamacare subsidies to insurance companies

The Democrats have decided on a party line to attack President Trump following a federal court decision and ending the unconstitutional “subsidies” (bribes) to health insurance companies that President Obama instituted, with no constitutionally-mandated appropriation by Congress. The Wall Street Journal summarizes the gist of the issue:

…the government will stop making “cost-sharing” payments, which are ObamaCare subsidies for insurers that defray the cost of deductibles or co-pays for some folks below 250% of the poverty line.  (snip)

The payments are illegal. The Affordable Care Act leaves the subsidies contingent on an annual appropriation, but since 2014 Congress has declined to dedicate the funding. The Obama Administration wrote the checks anyway, and the House of Representatives sued. Federal Judge Rosemary Collyer last year ruled that the Obama Administration had violated the Constitution, and an appeal is pending.

As my friend Mark Fitzgibbons emails, “The left has become so robotic and uncreative” that they rely on language ginned up for them.  A search of “Trump ACA sabotage” yields 265,000 results with Dems and their lickspittle media pushing the party line.  After all, it would be a shame to waste all that focus-grouping of various words.

The word of the moment is “sabotage.”

For example, “Pelosi and Schumer called the move a “spiteful act of vast, pointless sabotage leveled at working families and the middle class in every corner of America.” And Senator Kamala Harris, considered a 2020 presidential contender by many Dems (because she is not in her seventies and is attractive and half black), mass emails, “I have never seen an elected official so cruelly sabotage a law.”

MoveOn.org’s spokesman got the message, too, and tries to pin responsibiity for the O’care mess on the POTUS: “Thanks to Trump’s willful campaign of deliberate sabotage, Obamacare is becoming Trumpcare.”

Rick Moran correctly points out that it is the Democrats who sabotaged Obamacare by designing it to fail, and propping it up with illegal bribes to insurance companies.

You can’t “sabotage” a bridge that is collapsing.

Flashback

The federal government issued sixty contracts from 2009 to 2014 in efforts to build Healthcare.gov, the federal insurance marketplace. According to a report issued today by the inspector general (OIG) of the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), the government had already paid out just under half a billion dollars by February 2014, five months after the beginning of open enrollment. The government is already under obligation for another $300 million, and the estimated value of the sixty contracts totals $1.7 billion. The OIG provided a summary of its findings:

The 60 contracts related to the development and operation of the Federal Marketplace started between January 2009 and January 2014. The purpose of the 60 contracts ranged from health benefit data collection and consumer research to cloud computing and Web site development. The original estimated values of these contracts totaled $1.7 billion; the contract values ranged from $69,195 to over $200 million. Across the 60 contracts, nearly $800 million has been obligated for the development of the Federal Marketplace as of February 2014. As of that date, CMS had paid nearly $500 million for the development of the Federal Marketplace to the contractors awarded these contracts.

A new study on the Affordable Care Act, or Obamacare, produced by the Mercatus Center at George Mason University shows that the health care law penalizes Americans who work full-time, will reduce the number of full-time workers, and rewards those who work less.
